Good size bedroom, friendly and helpful staff. Brilliant location with access to secure parking.
Bathroom was very small in comparison to the room.
We have stayed at The Academy on several locations within the last 10 years and although we found the hotel as comfortable and relaxing as previous visits we thought that the standards on the little things had dropped; toilettrie products, hot drink selections etc. which were an obvious attempt to improve margins. The bathroom of the suite although clean certainly needs to be refurbished to reflect the overall standard of the hotel and offer. The hotel is extremely well located for the west end and the St Pancras International train station
Very well located, comfortable, well decorated, good breakfast ... a very good choice. The only weak point was a cold welcome but we strongly recommend this nice hotel.
Beautifully furnished with excellent facilities, friendly and helpful staff and in a pleasant and convenient location.
The service was excellent - we were required to change suites as the television was not functioning. Staff and management helped the transition with no problem. Room was spacious and king bed very comfortable.
This is a real hotel, just reception and bedrooms. No spa or gym etc. Our room was very clean comfortable, spacious and decorated in keeping with the Georgian style of the hotel. Staff were efficient and helpful..
Our room on the top of four floors smelt slightly musty but it was a very sttractive, clean and comfotable.
Lovely courtyard garden with a little fountain. Great location easy walking distance of Event Garden.
The location was very convenient for the area of London I was visiting, it was convenient for Subway stations for accessing other areas, and being next to University of London the area was quiet overnight.
Close to the nice restaurants of Bloomsbury, underground, rather quiet place. Cosy small gardens. The bottle of water every day refreshed.
The hotel definitely needs the renovation.
Excellent location. The staff were very friendly, polite and efficient.
This is a creaking, old and tired hotel. With no lifts, the stairs are awkward, steep and difficult for older guests. The room was small for two adults. The ensuite facility was hopelessly small with a faint smell of drains. Simply no room in the shower cubicle and rarely able to get hot water. Worryingly, no fire escape - just told we would have to run down the stairs! Avoided the cooked breakfast after the first day - served cold.
Location and staff ok .
Old shabby and dated, bedroom up 6 flights of stairs in the attic and bedlinen worn and shabby. Room was heavily decorated and too warm. Shower room resembled something you would get in a youth hostel very poor.
Friendly staff. Small hotel made it more intimate.
The wifi was useless. Every hotel should have good quality free wifi.
Perfect single room with view to the garden.
We chose the hotel because of its proximity to a theatre where we went that evening.
When booking our accommodation, we did not realise the hotel has no lifts, my wife is recovering from an illness and found climbing up the four floors was too much of an effort. Because of this, we were relieved our booking was just for the one night. That besides, everything else was fine.
Attractive---nice breakfast room/restaurant
Not enough milk for the 2nd day. had to go without our early morning cuppa!!
